Anna Charlotte Wijffels
Interdisciplinary artistic researcher
The complexity of the natural world, which I consider humanity and all its contradictions to be part of, fascinates me endlessly. Nature is my ultimate artist.
My workflow is intuitive and organic; I start from curiosity and create a mycelium-like network of research, from which fruits may grow that eventually become perceptible works of art.
Nature is unpredictable; there is an apparent randomness to the way the trees grow their roots and branches. It is both complete chaos and perfect harmony.
Melancholy and poetry are often my language of expression. I seek words, visuals, materials and ideas to explore the complex layers of emotion; our veiled inner world where those means of expression are yet to be found.
I want to move people; create work that resonates on a deeply human level. To utilise universal themes in order to give (back) a sense of belonging: This is who we are.
